Earth System Modelling

The professorship of Earth System Modelling and the Munich Climate Center combine Process-based Earth system models with Machine Learning components to model and predict the dynamics of different parts of the Earth system in response to anthropogenic forcing. Particular research focus is on extreme events and potential abrupt transitions, the associated uncertainties in climate change projections, and impacts on climate and ecosystems. 

The Focus Group involves Hans Fischer Senior Fellow Prof. Marina Hirota and her host Prof. Niklas Boers .
