Scientists Meet Scientists – TUM-IAS Wednesday Coffee Talk by Prof. Jiang Hu on “AI for Chip Design”
Events, WCT |

On 06 May 2026, Prof. Dr. Jiang Hu (Department of ECE, Texas A&M University) will talk about “AI for Chip Design”.
Abstract: The rapid advancement and widespread adoption of AI techniques are fundamentally reshaping chip design technologies. In this talk, we first discuss where and how AI can effectively assist different stages of chip design. We then present a few research examples that illustrate the power of AI-driven design methodologies, including microarchitecture power modeling, design performance and power prediction, and automatic design flow parameter tuning. These examples demonstrate how AI techniques can significantly improve chip design productivity. Finally, we summarize recent developments and emerging trends in AI-driven chip design and discuss future opportunities for deeper integration between AI techniques and traditional design methodologies.
