Theory of Soft Matter
Alessio Zaccone has been a Rudolf Mößbauer Tenure Track Professor since 2014. His research aims to understand the relationship between molecular interactions and the dynamical collective behavior of condensed matter systems, including macroscopic properties. Modern methods of theoretical physics are used, backed by computer simulations, to obtain insights into the mechanical response, the morphology and the phase transition behaviour of disordered atomic and molecular solids (e.g. metallic glasses, amorphous polymers etc.), colloidal suspensions and other complex fluids, and biomolecular self-assembling systems.
