Neuroimaging

The Focus Group Neuroimaging consists of Hans Fischer Senior Fellow Prof. Josef P. Rauschecker (Georgetown University Medical Center) and host Prof. Bernhard Hemmer (Neurology Clinic, TUM/“Rechts der Isar” hospital) in close collaboration with the Neuroimaging Center at TUM (TUM-NIC). The group intended to investigate the neural mechanisms of cognitive control in brain plasticity by using high-resolution neuroimaging techniques, including functional fMRI and PET, as well as network analysis using functional connectivity studies. As a result of our studies, we hope to clarify the central origins of a variety of neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders, including chronic pain, tinnitus, Parkinson’s disease, and depression, and develop more effective treatments for these disorders.
