Scientists Meet Scientists –TUM-IAS Wednesday Coffee Talk by Prof. Jürgen Beckmann: "Stabilizing motor performance with a simple embodiment technique"
Events, WCT |

On June 8, 2022, Prof. Jürgen Beckmann (Sport Psychology, TUM) will talk about "Stabilizing motor performance with a simple embodiment technique."
Abstract: Manipulations that differentially activate the left or right cerebral hemisphere influence behavior in predictable ways. A specific technique is a dynamic clenching of the left hand activating the right brain hemisphere. This technique was studied in my laboratory in order to find a way to stabilize performance in pressure situations such as sport competitions. Several behavioral experiments with athletes from different sports were conducted to test the effectiveness of this technique. The findings indicate that the technique can prevent motor-skill failure under pressure. The research has been expanded into the health context with promising results
