Prof. Ernst Rank and the TUM-IAS team invite the scientists of TUM and their guests for coffee each Wednesday! Just come over to the TUM-IAS after lunch between 1:00–2:00 p.m. and have a coffee with us, meet other scientists and listen from time to time to a short talk (10-15 mins) on a recent major TUM publication or issue – aimed specifically at a non-expert audience.
On July 10, PD Dr. med. Simon Jacob (TUM School of Medicine) will give a talk entitled “Lost in Translation: The Challenge of Bringing Together Animal and Human Experiments to Explore Cognitive Brain Functions”. He received in 2017 an ERC starting grant award for the MEMCIRCUIT project, dealing with the deconstruction of a neural circuit for working memory. Jacob’s research is concentrated on the neurobiological basis of higher cognitive functions. A particular focus is the regulation of subjective experience, working memory and decision making by subcortical neuromodulators such as dopamine.
We look forward to seeing you there!
