Scientists Meet Scientists – TUM-IAS Wednesday Coffee Talk by Dr. Julien Warnan: "Artificial Photosynthesis - Designing Hybrid Materials for Storing the Sun's Energy into Chemical Bonds"
Events, WCT |

On July 26, 2023, Dr. Julien Warnan (Functional Molecules and Materials for Energy Conversion) will talk about “Artificial Photosynthesis - Designing Hybrid Materials for Storing the Sun's Energy into Chemical Bonds."
Abstract:
Plants harness the Sun's energy and small molecules (CO2, H2O) to produce biomass via the process of photosynthesis. In Nature’s photosynthetic organisms, light-harvesting and energy conversion to drive chemical reactions are controlled by the supramolecular assembly of multiple, synergistically interacting components in confined space. Artificial hybrid multifunctional materials hold promises for emulating such systems with major implications for the field of renewable energy. Indeed, hybrid materials can potentially provide efficient and sustainable sources of electrochemical fuels (e-fuels), reducing the reliance on fossil fuels and contributing to the mitigation of climate change. The coffee talk will give a brief overview about our recent achievements towards this goal.
