Nathalie Bredella

Short CV

Prof. Dr. Nathalie Bredella focuses on the history and theory of architecture at the nexus of media and technology studies. She studied architecture at the TU Berlin and Cooper Union New York. She finalized her doctoral dissertation in architectural theory at the Leibniz University Hannover and habilitated at the ETH Zürich. She was a research fellow at the IKKM (Internationales Kolleg für Kulturtechnikforschung und Medienphilosophie) of the Bauhaus-University Weimar and at MECS Institute for Advanced Study on Media Cultures of Computer Simulation, Leuphana University Lüneburg. As a visiting professor at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) she taught architectural history with a focus on media and gender studies. She has also been a visiting professor at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, the Technical University of Munich, and a guest lecturer at the ETH Zurich. Nathalie is currently the Chair of Architectural Theory at Leibniz Universität Hannover.

Research Interests

Her research interests lie in the history and theory of architecture. She is interested in architectural history at the interface with the history of media and technology. The mediality of architecture and the history of the digital are focal points of her research, as are gender studies and urban studies.
