Short CV
Prof. Eichhorn received her PhD in Physics from the Technical University of Munich in 2015. As a postdoctoral fellow, she joined the Joint Center for Artificial Photosynthesis at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. In 2019, she started her independent career as a junior research group leader at the Walter Schottky Institute of TUM. Since March 2020, she is a member of the Young Academy of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and received an ERC Starting Grant in 2023. She was appointed Rudolf Mößbauer Tenure Track professor for Nanoscale Microscopy and Spectroscopy of Energy Materials at TUM in August 2024.
Selected Awards
- 2023, ERC Starting Grant
- 2020, Junior Research Group Funding of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities
- 2020, Fellowship in the Young Academy of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities
Research Interests
Prof. Eichhorn investigates the physical principles of energy conversion processes in novel materials and nanostructures. A particular focus is on conversion processes at surfaces and interfaces beyond idealized model systems. An overarching goal is to understand the impact of nanoscale material properties on the macroscale performance of complex material architectures. To this end, advanced atomic force microscopy methods are used to resolve dynamically reaction processes, charge transport, and material properties at the nanoscale.
