Roberto Giuntini

Short CV

Roberto Giuntini is a full professor of Logic and Philosophy of Science at the University of Cagliari. His scientific interests primarily focus on the logico-algebraic structures of quantum mechanics and the quantum information and computation. In recent years, he has been engaged in the applications of quantum logic to machine learning and artificial intelligence.

The Leitmotiv of his research is based on the idea that quantum formalism finds applications beyond the realm of the microphysics, encompassing the domains of cognitive and social sciences as well.

He has served as the President of the International Quantum Structures Association and the Italian Society of Logic and Philosophy of Science. In 1998, he received the Birkhoff-von Neumann Prize for his studies on the logical-algebraic foundations of quantum mechanics, and in 2020 he was awarded the Prize Jur Hronek for his mathematical achievements by the Slovak Academy of Sciences.

  • 2020: Jur Hronec Medal of the Slovak Academy of Sciences for the achievements in mathematical sciences
