Three TUM-IAS Fellows are ranked within the top 1% by citations in their field:
Prof. Johannes Lehmann from Cornell University is a Hans Fischer Senior Fellow at TUM-IAS and member of the Focus Group Soil Architecture. His research is focusing on biogeochemical cycles of carbon and nutrient elements in soil providing important insight into regional and global element cycles such as the carbon or sulfur cycle. This field of research has global and local relevance with implications for climate change, food security and environmental pollution.
Prof. Jane McKeating from the University of Birmingham is also a TUM-IAS Hans Fischer Senior Fellow and member of the Focus Group Viral Hepatitis. Prof. McKeating is working on an improved understanding of early infection events that define the cellular and tissue tropism of clinically important human viruses to understand viral-associated pathology and to design improved vaccines and anti-viral therapies.
Prof. Alessandro Reali from the University of Pavia is a TUM-IAS Hans Fischer Fellow and member of the TUM-IAS Focus Group Computational Mechanics: Geometry and Numerical Simulation. Prof. Reali is working on Isogeometric Analysis (IGA) aiming at bridging the gap between analysis and geometric design. The results have been so far much more than promising and IGA is now regarded as one of the most powerful Computational Mechanics tools, able to attract also industrial interests. Highly Cited Researchers from the Intellectual Property (IP) and Science business of Thomson Reuters is an annual list recognizing leading researchers in the sciences and social sciences from around the world.
