The Focus Group aimed to inform sustainability governance through a better understanding of how people and technology interact. Research developed new multidisciplinary analysis methods and examined empirical cases of pollutants, including mercury and pesticides. Henrik Selin is Associate Dean for Studies and Associate Professor in the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University where he has worked since 2004. Prior to his current faculty position, he was a Wallenberg Research Fellow in Environment and Sustainability in the Environmental Policy and Planning Group, Department of Urban Studies and Planning, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2001-04), an Associate with the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University (2001-03), and an Associate with the Center for International Development, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University (2003-04). He received a BA/MA from the Department of Political Science at Lund University, Sweden and a PhD from the Department of Thematic Studies at Linköping University, Sweden (2000). He is the author and editor of five books and the author of over fifty peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters as well as numerous reports, reviews, and commentaries.

Research Interests
Henrik Selin’s research focuses on global and regional environmental governance. His empirically-grounded work on how states and non-state actors interact to address environmental problems and the effectiveness of such efforts contributes to a broad range of scholarly and policy debates on environmental management, policy, and politics in a broader context of sustainable development.
