Support Program Fellowships for Ukrainian Researchers

News |

Please note that all Fellowships currently available habe already been awarded. We regret that we cannot accept any further nominations at the moment.

Due to the present situation in Ukraine, scientists may be forced to leave their home country in order to bring themselves and their families to safety, TUM has put in place an ad-hoc support program for researchers from Ukraine on different levels. For senior researchers and professors, we have established a Fellowship program to provide scholarships for an initial six-month research stay at TUM. The program is organized by the TUM-IAS, which is experienced in bringing international scientists to TUM.

Target group: Fellowships are intended for Ukrainian researchers[1] from Ukrainian universities and research institutions, typically on assistant professor level and up. Fellows are welcome to bring dependant family members (e.g. children) with them.

Duration: The Fellowship is offered for an initial six-month period.

Connection to a TUM professor: Candidates must be nominated by a TUM professor who will serve as host to the Fellow, which includes granting them access to their office space and laboratories

Funding and support: For the six months’ duration, the Fellowship is equipped with a total of 25,000 EUR. This funding can be used flexibly, e.g. for accommodation, travel expenses (to TUM), research expenses, daily personal expenses of the Fellow and their family. If need be, TUM can provide the Fellow with a suitable accommodation. Fellows can use the office space of the TUM-IAS according to availability.

[1] This Fellowship is primarily designed to support Ukrainian researchers who have already fled their country or who are free to leave. TUM does not consider itself to be in a position to encourage Ukrainian citizens to leave their country illegally.
