Dr. Karl Wamsler Innovation Award honors TUM-IAS Fellow Tao Zhang

For the tenth time, the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the specialty chemicals company Clariant have presented the Dr. Karl Wamsler Innovation Award. The 2026 award for outstanding achievements in catalysis research was bestowed on Nobel Laureate Prof. Frances H. Arnold. During the ceremony, the 2025 award was also formally presented to Prof. Tao Zhang.
Tao Zhang is Director of the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a Hans Fischer Senior Fellow at the TUM Institute for Advanced Study. He was honored in particular for his pioneering work in pioneering and establishing the concept of single-atom catalysis.
