Scientists Meet Scientists –TUM-IAS Wednesday Coffee Talk by Prof. Stefan Leutenegger: “How mobile robots perceive their environments and interact with it”

Events, WCT |

On November 16, 2022, at 13:00, Prof. Stefan Leutenegger (Machine Learning for Robotics, TUM) will talk about How mobile robots perceive their environments and interact with it.”

Abstract: Mobile robots find plenty of applications, from vacuum-cleaners to drones carrying out inspection or repair tasks. To be successful, they must crucially understand their environments, which are potentially very much unknown. In this talk, you will therefore see elements of mobile robot perception, localization, and map building that enable them in planning and carrying out actions – e.g. to safely navigate through cluttered, unknown environments, or to even physically interact with it, as a drone might when acting as the “3D printer head” building a 3D structure, which we recently showed.
