Scientists Meet Scientists –TUM-IAS Wednesday Coffee Talk by Prof. Stefan Filipp “Nobel Prize 2022 in Physics: Quantum Entanglement - from scientific curiosity to quantum applications”

Events, WCT |

On November 23, 2022, Prof. Stefan Filipp (Technical Physics, TUM) will talk about “Nobel Prize 2022 in Physics: Quantum Entanglement - from scientific curiosity to quantum applications.”

Abstract: The quantum world allows for correlations between particles that are stronger than in the classical world. This is known as entanglement. If two photons are prepared in such a peculiar state, not only does a measurement of the state of one directly influence the outcome of a measurement on the other. It is also the basis of intrinsically secure communication protocols, and at the heart of the power of a quantum computer. The Nobel Prize 2022 honors the pioneering contributions of Alain Aspect, John Clauser and Anton Zeilinger to the experimental verification of entanglement that laid the foundation of the field of quantum information processing.
