Short CV

Gustavo H. Goldman received his BSc in Biology at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (1983). After his undergraduation, he worked at the National Institute of Research in Amazon (INPA, 1983-1986), Manaus, Brazil. Subsequently, he got his MSc. in Microbiology at University of São Paulo, Brazil (1988), his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology at Rijksuniversiteit Gent, in Belgium (1993), and his post-doctoral training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, USA (1994). He followed his academic career at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo as Assistant Professor (1994-1997), Associate Professor (1998-2001), and Professor (2002 to date). He is a Researcher (Category 1A) from the National Council of Research and Technology (CNPq), Brazil (1994 to date) and a visiting Professor at the University of Minho, School of Health, Portugal (2009 to date) and University Nova de Lisboa, Portugal (2017 to date). He has been serving the International Union of Microbiological Societies as a Vice-Chair (2014- 2017) and Chair (2017-2020) in Eukaryotic Microbiology and Mycology, and the Brazilian Society of Microbiology as a Secretary (2014-2015) and Vice-President (2015-2019). He is currently Editor in Chief, Frontiers in Microbiology, Fungi and their interactions since 2018 and Associate Editor for mBio, Fungal Genetics and Biology, and Fungal Biology.
