Scientists Meet Scientists – Wednesday Coffee Talk by Dr. Tingying Peng and Prof. Nassir Navab on a clear view on stem cell development by using a new image correction program

Prof. Ernst Rank and the TUM-IAS team invite the scientists of TUM and their guests for coffee each Wednesday! Just come over to the TUM-IAS after lunch between 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. and have a coffee with us, meet other scientists and listen from time to time to a short talk (10-15 mins) on a recent major TUM publication or issue – aimed specifically at a non-expert audience.

On November 15, 2017Dr. Tingying Peng (TUM Department of Informatics & Helmholtz Zentrum München) and Prof. Nassir Navab (Computer Aided Medical Procedures & Augmented Reality) will talk about a new image correction software called “BaSiC”. This program filters out artefacts and thereby makes hitherto hidden stem cell development steps visible (TUM press release).

Relevant Publication:
T. Peng, K. Thorn, T. Schroeder, L. Wang, F. J. Theis, C. Marr, and N. Navab, “BaSiC: A Tool for Background and Shading Correction of Optical Microscopy Images”, Nature Communications 8, 14836 (2017) – doi: 10.1038/ncomms14836

We look forward to seeing you there!
