Nicola T. Lautenschlager

Nicola Lautenschlager is an academic old age psychiatrist who received her undergraduate and postgraduate training at TUM. From October 2000 to June 2008, she worked at the University of Western Australia in Perth where her last position was Professor in Old Age Psychiatry and Deputy Head of School. In June 2008, she took up the position of University of Melbourne Professor & Chair of Psychiatry of Old Age in the Department of Psychiatry. Nicola Lautenschlageris the Head of the Academic Unit for Psychiatry of Old Age (AUPOA) in the Department of Psychiatry, a multidisciplinary group of around 15 researchers and higher degree students. Nicola Lautenschlager is also the Director of Research for the North Western Mental Health, Aged Persons Mental Health Program at Melbourne Health, where she works as a consultant psychiatrist. She participates in research on various topics related to cognitive and mental health. Her current research focus is promotion of cognitive health and dementia risk reduction. Nicola Lautenschlager has an interest in non-pharmacological intervention trials with also using modern technology to improve cognitive and mental health outcomes in middle aged and older adults, including carers.
